I post pictures of my weekly shopping - hoping that it might spark ideas for your own menu planning or dinner for the evening.
I don't always post these pictures - as I don't always manage to do a weekly shop! But when I do, I love it. Too often I get in the cycle of get home from work, go to the supermarket, cook - a 'recipe' for disaster, as it is so easy to skip the 'go to the supermarket' part and therefore be stuck with no dinner, or some abysmal option from the cupboard - e.g. toast and vegemite!
There is definitely benefit in shopping as you go when you cook for one. It provides flexibility and there is a definite balance between weekly shopping to make life easy, and not ending up with food going to waste because your plans changed.
What I have learnt over the years that is if I do do a weekly shop I need to prepare the vegetables for easy use during the week, otherwise too much gets thrown out.
Also that I love colour!
I discovered that the more my food looks good and is a colour palette I like, the more likely I am to eat it.
Go here for Shredded chicken with ginger, tumeric & tomato - a batch cooking recipe I made with these ingredients.
Below is picture of the 'meal prep' I did with these ingredients. That is I washed and chopped the vegetables so that when I got home from work, I just had to take out the portion I needed. They were all ready to go - no washing or chopping - a great time saver and washing up saver.
